Austrian symphonic metal band Edenbridge has released the single Somewhere Else But Here, taken from the forthcoming album Shangri-La which will be released on 26th August 2022. Somewhere Else But Here itself is a buoyant slice of symphonic rock with crunching guitars and a theatrical, almost operatic, vocal melody. It has great raunch and is full of movement and drive. No one musician dominates, this is very much an ensemble playing a well-arranged piece of music. From time to time whilst listening, the Finnish band Nightwish comes to mind, which is no bad thing! A splendid taster for the full album.
Edenbridge have been around since 1998 and the new album will be the band’s eleventh studio album. They are led by songwriter Arne “Lanvall” Stockhammer and fronted by soprano singer Sabine Edelsbacher. The album will be released by AFM records, with whom the band recently signed.
